About Me

I'm Kangyou Yu, a first year PhD student at The University of Melbourne, co-supervised by Adelaide Genay and Jorge Goncalves.

---------

Prior to joining UniMelb, I took a year-looooooong gap to spend time with my family/friends and live a better life in China...

---------

I obtained my Master degree in Computer Science at UCSB, where I was pursuing my PhD program in Four Eyes Lab under the supervision of Tobias Höllerer at UCSB until Dec. 2024. Before that, I received my Bachelor degree in Information and Computing Science from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (Suzhou, China) and University of Liverpool (Liverpool, United Kingdom) in July 2022 and worked as an undergraduate research assistant in X-CHI Lab at XJTLU, supervised by Hai-Ning Liang and Wenge Xu .

I also worked as a research intern in the APEX Group at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou), supervised by Mingming Fan. I also worked as a remote research intern in the VVISE Lab at Simon Fraser University, supervised by Wolfgang Stuerzlinger and Anil Ufuk Batmaz.

My research interest lies on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and AR/VR/MR and focus on input modalities in Mixed Reality and making intelligent system/devices understand human behaviors/capabilities, creating interactive system which can be adaptive to changing contexts in AR/VR/MR.
